    April 20, 2018, 7:30 PM @ Bedford Central Library - Bedford Room

For (almost 40) years Dry Branch Fire Squad has been one of bluegrass music’s most popular bands, renowned for its spry mix of front-porch standards, modern ballads, and the old-time sounds from which bluegrass first sprang. This year’s theme for Earth Day is to end plastic pollution, a very ambitious goal but one that we can all begin. Bedford Central Library, Wharton Garden and Bower Center for the Arts will be the main sites for the exhibits and activities. At least 12 groups have expressed interest in joining the event and are planning hands on activities. Those groups in addition to Bedford Central Library, Wharton Garden, and Bower Center are Land and Table, Master Gardeners, Citizens Climate Lobby, Claytor Nature Studies Center, Bedford Urban Gardens, Bedford County Solid Waste Management and Friends of the Bedford Central Library. Just to whet your appetite, the Friends of the Bedford Library will help you create art work from paper from recycled books, and Bedford Urban Garden volunteers will lead you the BUG garden where folks will be able to plant seeds in planters made from recycled paper rolls. Bedford Get Together will give away oak trees to the first 100 people attending.
