“Domini Est Terra” – a new exhibit at Goose Creek Studio during the month of October – features work by over a dozen local artist and focuses on stewardship of natural resources and the impact of humans on our planet and the climate. The exhibit title, Latin for “The Earth is the Lord’s” and the opening line of Psalm 24, suggests we are merely Earth’s caretakers and are entrusted with the health and sustainability it’s future. Through a variety of media – including painting, sculpture, mosaic, and fiber art – the works in this exhibit reflect these themes. For example, Mary Wells Ramsey has created detailed botanical drawings of endangered native Virginia plants, Linda Black has interpreted radar maps of a cyclone using quilting and felting techniques, and Janet Chalker has crafted a tree of life mosaic using recycled glass bottles.
An opening reception with the artists will be held during 2nd Friday, October 12, 5-8 pm. Goose Creek Studio is located at 302 Court Street in Bedfo

Annette Kinsey was born in Charlottesville, VA and grew up with her four siblings above the general store her parents owned in Buckingham County. During childhood, she became interested in painting while watching her mother paint. Annette attended classes with her mother using oil s, under the direction of John Mogle, an art teacher in the Buckingham County schools system. During her teenage years, she painted in watercolor and continued with watercolors for many years. After graduating high school, she moved to Lynchburg to attend Phillips Business College. She continued her interest in art and took the commercial art curriculum at Central VA Community College.
In 2004, Annette began classes in pastels under Lynchburg artist Christine Rooney and still seeks his advise. In 2014 to present day, she takes classes in oils under Lynchburg artist Ron Boehmer. Annette appreciates the techniques of her teachers, also of Hopper, Daubigny, Renoir, Corot and particularly the Impressionists.

Local potter Sharon Kessler loves Halloween! She enjoys the fun of dressing up in spooking costumes and entertaining friends on the holiday. In addition, when she is not making her signature hand built functional pottery and clay animal figures, she also spends the months leading up to Halloween creating one-of-a-kind creepy décor to share with others. Kessler has brought together many of her Halloween creations – zombie dolls, spell books, apothecary jars, and more – for a Creepy Show in an upstairs room at Goose Creek Studio. The Creepy Show will run for the month of October and will feature a reception with the artist during 2nd Friday in Bedford, October 12, 5:00-8:00 pm
